The Sydnee Chronicles Volume 2

Sydnee is at the age of talking. She just talks all day! And especially being 7, she likes jokes and loves laughing.

The other night Sydnee was being sneaky and as I was laying next to our fire in the fireplace, a little voice from the top of the stairs asked if she could come cuddle with me? How am I supposed to resist that?

So finally she also talked her way into sleeping in bed with me. And Sydnee's favorite thing is to ask me to tell her stories of her. Her birth story, funny things she's done.... Well I was tired and told her it was her turn to tell me stories. She proceeded to try and tell me some jokes.

Her jokes don't make sense, She laughs so hard, but I just start laughing cause they don't mean anything. I started trying to explain what a joke was. How there should be a double meaning in the punch line. She kept trying and they almost seemed to be getting worse. 15 minutes of explaining and explaining, trying to help her understand how a joke works. Comedy is not her forte. Finally I told her I was tired and it was time to go to sleep.....

5 minutes of silence, I'm half asleep as I hear "Mommy?"
"Huh?"

"Why did the turkey run away?"

groan "why?"

"Cause it didn't want to get gobbled up!!!!"

EUREKA!!!!

Something good.... ADORABLE pics that I just took of Morgan.

Tri or Die

I started a new blog chronicling my Triathlon training.

TRIorDIE

Just cause it's helpful for me to track my progress. And to write down all the things I'm learning. And obviously I don't have to do a triathlon or I'll die, it just sounds better than

"Tri or just stay the bum you already are."

*Plus, that blog name was already taken!

Something good...I got new PINK sweats from VS. They're the most comfortable things ever!

Upcoming

Alright here's what's happening and what's coming soon to a Rinny life near you... (Wow, I am far too hyper and cheesy right now)

My baby sister Kadi (or Kadee as she's insisting) is getting married! March 19th to Jaykob Owens. He's in the Army and being deployed in Juneish so they'll have a few months of wedded bliss. Good luck to him, she's a handful. She's making him wear purple... hehe

Anyway, I took them to downtown CS and took some pics for their engagement announcements.

Ryan starts school this week. I spent 5ish years going to school and even with the 3 year wait list, it was all completely worth it. I love my degree, I love my job and I love that I have the ability to make a living for my family. I'm working on my Bachelor's and my goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner. Sydnee and I frequently talk about college, where she wants to go, what she wants to become. It's expected that she and Becks will go to college, I'm a mean Mommy and I will drill it into their heads that they are expected to get a degree. So my poor Ryan is also being pushed to go to school. I'm completely aware that this is going to take forever but here's step 1.
Alright, this is going to be slightly controversial but I don't really care. I sometimes pretend that 10 years of my life didn't happen and I popped up at age 25 with 2 kids and no past. And when I pretend like people don't exist I eventually have some kind of brain revolt where it's even more painful. I'm trying to blend my life, blend the people and acknowledge past, present and future. So since, in my head all day I will be thinking this, I will acknowledge it and wish Rex a Happy Birthday

BIG NEWS!!! I've been thinking about this for awhile, I've actually looked up Triathlon races before but never followed through.
My Dad has timeshare points and occasionally schedules a vacation if he finds a good deal and invites the family to come. He sent me an email about having a week in Pagosa Springs, CO in April. He made sure to point out that Durango, CO is an hour away, which is where Dusty lives. Dusty was my best friend in high school, sadly we don't get to see each other as often anymore. She now has 3 kids and I haven't seen her since her oldest was a baby. BUT, I already called her and we're going to get together and play in April.

So again, I was online looking at possible races cause I need some motivation and a new goal. and I found a triathlon in Durango the exact week we will be there.

TRI the RIM
April 17th

So I am officially training for a Triathlon. Which should be interesting considering I have never been able to run. I can sprint fast, but any long distance just kills me. (Although I've been told it's all in my head) So lots and lots of training ahead. I'm really excited! I've already registered and I have my training plan. But now I just have to learn to run, look for a HUGE post in the future when I finally run without dying.

Something GOOD.... Ryan got his dream calling as an 11 year-old assistant Scout Master. He's really excited

I had a blog for the past 2 years which chronicled being an abandoned single Mother, who was going through a divorce and trying to finish nursing school. I would like to think I was honest. In moments where I struggled I said it out loud.

I feel like getting married and graduating school means I no longer am allowed to struggle. I don't get to say that marriage is not what it seems. That I'm not allowed to say that there's going to be a lot of work to keep it going. That right now is a struggle. People aren't what they seem, and struggles just seem to transfer from one item to another.

I still have Something Good in my life. I'm not at all saying it's horrible, but in being honest I would say there is a lot of work do be done.

So I'm going to chronicle it, no one admits problems like this out loud. I don't really have any references to help guide me, but maybe someone else will.

5 YEARSSSS!!! I'm FREEZING!

5 YEARSSS!!

It's been 5 years

5 LONG, cold, hard, rewarding, shifting, freezing, changing, still can't believe I did it years

I went from this...
Sunshine, glorious sunshine. Lots of swimming and water, all my friend, family. Heat, comfort, warmth... did I mention I like warm temperatures?

To this

Strange land of green and cold, where the roads suck, I have to drive in the snow, I'm 13 hours away from my entire life. All so I could go to nursing school with the help of my parents, so Sydnee wouldn't have to be in daycare. (you better love me Sydnee!)
Know the phrase, "I went to ___ (fill in with your choice) and all I got was a tshirt?
WELL.....
I moved to Colorado and all I got was a Beckham!!!
Ahhh, alright it was already worth it, even if I have to stay here forever!
How exactly do you get a Beckham when you move to Colorado you say? You possibly want to move here and get one too???
Here's is the recipe of how you can accomplish that
-Family moves to Colorado.
-Father had job with health insurance takes a new job and has a one month gap of no insurance.
-Mother is forgetful and does not fill birth control before insurance gap.
-Couple is safe and then decides to go and visit AZ
-They discover they both forgot backup
----------------------- (this has been edited cause my Mom reads this and doesn't know I've even kissed a boy)
-Once insurance is reestablished, Mother goes to dr for new birth control only to discover there is no need cause there's already a baby.
*Follow steps in sequence to ensure proper mixture, bake for 40 weeks at 98.6 and voila!
Ok that's not entirely true, I did manage to make some incredible friends (although I still miss my AZ girls everyday)

There is one other thing that I post yearly about moving.
Nathaly

My first baby, my girl, my Natty, Sydnee's big sister....
I worked with Natty for 4 years. Everyday the bus would drop her off at my house and we would work together. She even came to the hospital when Sydnee was born. They were great friends. When we moved Nathaly's family moved to Arkansas.
I love her and always call her my first child.
Sometimes, time sucks and you start pulling away from keeping in touch with those closest to you. Maybe things aren't going so great in life and instead of telling people, you just try to only share good news. You lose people's phone numbers and addresses. And very frequently you think of that little girl (who would now be 12!!) and you send her love to wherever she is.
Something good... I've had a Beckham for 4 years!

Christmas

Wow! What a week! Be prepared cause there are a lot of pictures to follow.

Late one night I was staying up late and wrapping presents. I was putting them into the garage and I heard the scuffle steps of a HUGE MONSTER!!! I've been begging Ry to kill the monster but he's been slacking. So as I'm running for my life I tripped on the stair and fall onto my shoulder and promptly sprained my shoulder!

OWWWW!!!!

I couldn't get dressed, move or hold anything and it hurt! It was a miserable week for me.

Even with my hurt arm I could hold a camera with one hand. So Baby Morgan came over and we took some adorable Christmas pics. We wrapped my ottoman in the cutest paper, I'm saving this box for future photo sessions

SANTA EXPRESS!!!

We went again this year on the Santa (Polar) Express. It's so awesome! Hot chocolate, sugar cookies, pjs, good friends, we had a blast!

The conductor comes around and punches your ticket just like the movie

Lisa and Krystal! I love that my closest friends in CO have kids the same ages. We have a ton of fun playing together

As we arrived at the North Pole all the kids looked out to see...

SANTA!
He asked each kid what they wanted and gave them a sleigh bell
Sydnee asked for an American Doll

Becks asked for Chocolate Bars!

I think Santa pictures in pajamas are so adorable! We will be continuing this tradition every year! It's such a magical night

Christmas Eve, we continued our tradition with having dinner at the Lewis' house and having the kids act out the Nativity while Lisa reads from Luke

Mary and the Wiseman/Shepard

Sydnee actually asked to be an angel this year, but she's the only girl! I remember fighting with my cousins cause I was desperate to be Mary. But there are 6 Jones girl cousins within 6 years, it never happened.

The older kids take this so seriously, we're lucky the little boys kept their costumes on this year.

Sydnee is so perfect and loving

That night we put out of cookies and milk and set up a trap for Santa. My Dad did this when I was younger. We placed the camera and put the remote on the floor where Santa would step on it and have it go off. Sydnee kept walking from the fireplace to the tree to ensure that's where Santa would really step! So on Christmas morning the first thing we did was look to see if we caught him....

WE DID IT!!!! We got him! HAHA Santa we caught you! And Sydnee says you should drink all of your milk next time

My parents got the kids a Wii. This is Sydnee's actual face when she opened it

Sydnee got her American Doll, I love this doll I always wanted one

No matter what you give, NERF guns are always the favorite toy

Grandma Lisa sent the kids pajamas for Christmas, they love them!

Something good.... Beckham did get his chocolate bars, which he shared with me!
