As per usual I may have gone a little crazy with Halloween costumes again. We spent a few months discussing what the kids should be; Wizard of Oz, Batman, Merida from Brave...
Finally I decided to let Becks keep his hair longer and let him be Wolverine. He loves his costume getting to run around with his adamantium claws.
Becks was jumping around and yelling which scared Morgan Lewis who is 2 years old and normally loves playing with him.
Sydnee's costume was a bit more difficult. She told me she wanted to make a mask. And I decided to make her costume myself. I bought all the material and a pattern for a princess corset top. Knowing that it's usually cold in Colorado on Halloween I chose crush velvet for the top and 7 different tulle colors to make a tutu skirt. The problem with this costume was that I took up my entire kitchen table and made a huge mess and then came down with a nasty head cold. So for a total of 2 weeks my poor kids had to eat breakfast in the living room while the table was an explosion of glitter, feathers and tutus.
I bought a few different types of feathers and a pair of feather wings that I cut up to make the tail. Sydnee painted Mod Podge on a mask and covered it in glitter. Once dry we glued a few extra feathers on it.
We take pictures every year on a bridge on the Santa Fe trail. It was absolutely freezing this year, so to get her to be happy I asked Syd to dance. She busted into a Tahiti booty shake that made her Mommy so proud.
She's pretty excited about her costume although a little sad I told her she couldn't wear it to school because she can't even sit in it.
Something good... I'm off work for 6 nights! Finally able to beat this cold, cook some Butternut Squash Soup, and Pumpkin Bread Pudding. Yummy!
